Hello everyone! Today I will do a list of the best of the best Aussie Stars.
Thanks to her breakout role in The Wolf of Wall Street, Margot Robbie has joined a special group of Australian Actors who have a special place in the land of dreams, Hollywood. Porven by their multiple awards and nominations in the Academy.
So the Aussie stars who have been warmly embraced by Hollywood, and be reminded of their breakout roles were:
Nicole Kidman
Highlights: In 2003 Nicole won the best actress Oscar for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf in The Hours, though her first nomination came for 2001’s Moulin Rouge!. She earned another nomination for 2010’s Rabbit Hole, which she also produced.
Chris Hemsworth
Highlights: Chris has portrayed Thor in three movies, including The Avengers in 2012 and Thor: The Dark World in 2013 (The Avengers: Age of Ultron is coming), and got to prove that he’s more than just a pretty face and buff body when he starred in Rush as English race car driver James Hunt.
Margot Robbie
Highlights: Everyone is talking about her performance and beauty in The Wolf of Wall Street, but she has also filmed Focus, opposite Will Smith, and just landed a role in Z For Zachariah, with Chris Pine and 12 Years a Slave lead Chiwetel Ejiofor.
Guy Pearce
Highlights: He’s starred with big names in L.A. Confidential (1997), Memento (2000),The King’s Speech (2010) and Iron Man 3 (2013), among many other credits.
Isla Fisher
Highlights: Isla’s mixed career includes playing the lead in 2009’s Confessions of a Shopaholic, and being part of the ensemble casts of The Great Gatsby and Now You See Mein 2013.
Hugh Jackman
Highlights: Hugh has portrayed Wolverine a total of six times, and will do it a seventh time in X-Men: Days of Future Past. He was nominated for a best actor Oscar in 2013 for his work as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables, but he lost to Daniel Day-Lewis.
Russell Crowe
Highlights: Russell followed up his Oscar win with another nomination for A Beautiful Mind in 2001. Blockbusters in his list of credits include Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World in 2003, Robin Hood in 2010, Les Misérables in 2012 and Man of Steel in 2013. His next role will be as the titular character in Noah.
Geoffrey Rush
Highlights: What hasn’t Geoffrey Rush been in? He continues to mix things up with US and Australian productions, from blockbuster franchises like the Pirates of the Caribbeanmovies to awards season bait like The King’s Speech, which earned him a best supporting actor Oscar nomination in 2010.
Rose Byrne
Highlights: Rose shared screen time with comedy heavyweights Owen Wilson andVince Vaughn in 2013’s The Internship and played Bradley Cooper’s wife in The Place Beyond the Pines in the same year.
Rebel Wilson
Highlights: In 2013 Rebel created, wrote and produced her own sitcom, Super Fun Night.
Joel Edgerton
Highlights: Critics raved about Joel’s performance as Tom Buchanan in 2013’s The Great Gatsby. He also had people talking about his work in Warrior in 2011.
Jacki Weaver
Highlights: She scored her second Oscar nomination in the same category for her work in 2012’s Silver Linings Playbook.
Cate Blanchett
Highlights: There are so many credits to mention, but Cate has earned a total of six Oscar nominations (she won best supporting actress for The Aviator in 2004) and has been garnering best actress buzz for 2014 for her role in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine. Cate is also well known for her extensive theatre work.
Liam Hemsworth
Highlights: Liam scored the role of Gale Hawthorne in the popular The Hunger Gamesfranchise; he has starred in two of the movies so far in a supporting role, and will step up in the last two movies.
Naomi Watts
Highlights: Naomi earned a best actress Oscar nomination in 2003 for 21 Grams, and again in 2012 for The Impossible.
Mel Gibson
Highlights: Mel directed, produced and starred in Braveheart in 1995, which won best picture and director at the Oscars of the same year.
