The new InterContinental Sydney Double Bay is scheduled to open in November.
The new hotel by Bates Smart Architects will combine features of the original building with contemporary design to create a sense of understated luxury. The new design has a neutral palette, metallic finishings and splashes of pale blue and yellow. A cobbled driveway, hand-laid mosaic-tiles and a grand staircase also contribute to the architect’s re-gentrification of the old Ritz Carlton hotel.
This new hotel includes 140 guest rooms which includes 14 Royal Suites and a 24-hour gym.
Key features include a Mediterranean-inspired rooftop pool and lounge area with panoramic views of the bay; a hidden French provincial-style courtyard on level two, adjoining the Club InterContinental lounge; and sophisticated gin bar with marble-inlaid bar.
Events are well catered for with a completely refreshed pillarless Grand Ballroom, with a capacity of 495 cocktail-style, and six flexible function rooms, with use of Sydney’s only fully separate kosher kitchen.
