She has a figure that women the world over envy, but still, the idea of a skyscraper being created in Beyonce’s honour has even shocked us. Architecture firm Elenberg Fraser has been given the all clear to build a skyscraper at 134 Spencer Street in Melbourne, Australia. According to the architectural firm, the curved design of the Premier Tower, which will house 660 apartments and a 160-room hotel, pays homage to Beyonce’s Ghost music video. Confused? Yeah, don’t worry, so am I.
However, in attempt to make things clear, a source confirmed the “spiralling curves [in the structure] recall the twists and turns of a woman dancing in black cloth.” “The complex form – a vertical cantilever – is actually the most effective way to redistribute the building’s mass, giving the best results in terms of structural dispersion, frequency oscillation and wind requirements,” added the source. Art and science? You bet. For those more on the art than science side, we will reveal that the form does pay homage to something more aesthetic – we’re going to trust you’ve seen the music video for Beyoncé’s Ghost.

While Beyonce has nothing to do with the building’s design, other than being the inspiration, we’re sure the style savvy star will approve of the 78-storey skyscraper, which is due to be built near Melbourne’s Southern Cross railway station (completion date not yet released). Sleek, modern and gorgeous it has all the aesthetics associated with the singer.
As one of the most successful women in the entertainment industry – she ranks in at number 29 in the Forbes’ Celebrity 100 – Beyonce has been the inspiration of many trends. She made the beauty ‘lob’ (long bob) cool, her clothing line House of Deréon is such a success that is she has been approached to collaborate with other fashion brands including Topshop and Giuseppe Zanotti. She even made being vegan the new trendy diet of 2015. It was only a matter of time really that she started inspiring greater projects. And to be fair, it couldn’t been tacky. The homage could’ve been a more realistic replica of her form a la Dr Evil’s lair in Austin Powers...
Located in Melbourne’s business district the tower boasts enviable views.
