The Italianate mansion was built in the late 1880s and is listed on the State Heritage Register. The nine-bedroom home sits on a 2700 square metre block in the centre of Darlinghurst and is surrounded by established gardens and large lawns. The property also features a pool and parking for as many as 20 cars.
Luhrmann and Martin rented Iona for nine years before purchasing it in 2006.
Once purchased, the home was lovingly restored by costume and production designer Martin.
